The central theme of this project was the recovery of an abandoned industrial area, through environmental regeneration of the land.

The project idea is to create a residential project which acts as a catalyst to stimulate the redevelopment of the surrounding area by introducing a multiplicity of functions combining offices, businesses, residences and spaces for recreation, the ingredients needed to create a vital urban neighbourhood.

The area of the development, measuring about 34,000 sq m, is bordered to the west by the motorway axis Salerno-Reggio Calabria and to the north by the river park.
The design team has developed several design solutions.

The first project proposal focuses on technology and sustainability, with a central green area for the use of residential units that are arranged in a fan-shape that optimizes the exposure and the solar radiation of all the tower buildings.

The presence of vertical openings and long perspectives allows us to perceive the spaces in a continuous sequence, concatenated into a rhythmic path. The buildings open onto the river and turn away from the Salerno - Reggio Calabria motorway. On the south-east are situated the trade, craft and management units that ensure the vitality and use throughout the day.

The second proposed project provides a series of individually standing buildings, in contrast to the interconnecting structures of project one, responding to the need to create an open, municipal common space.
The project uses ecological materials applied to traditional construction technology.

The buildings seek to establish a harmonious relationship with the natural and urban environments, while maintaining the performance and functionality of typical residential building designed within tight budget constraints.
