DOLCI FOLLIE - London

Architect and Project Manager: Sabrina De Caro
Location: London (UK)
Year of Design and Construction: 2011

This lingerie boutique is situated at 28 Hereford Road in Notting Hill, one of the most fashionable areas of London. Against a backdrop of an imaginary proscenium theatre, the showroom is decorated in the style of an opulent Venetian palace, in which the elegance of the ceiling and furnishings give it a luxurious and refined feel.

Features include niches enclosed by a gold leaf frame, which, with Doric columns, give the space the impression of Renaissance refinement.

The classic lines and quality materials give the old style a modern twist. Responding to the need to concentrate on the most appropriate objects on display, this store is designed as an enveloping casing of colour, thanks to the antique pink finishing of the walls and neutral flooring.

The project emphasizes the formal purity of light that marks the design of the elements that make up this display, for example the lights hidden in niches creating a dramatic and charming effect. The same pattern of the ceiling, the work of Bernardo Ceruta, creates a spectacular architectural feature which seems almost metaphysical.

The large transparent openings of the windows and the entrance provide continuity between interior and exterior, to complement the surrounding urban landscape.
